Fitness Tip

Keep the Beat

According to Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, people who use a heart rate monitor to measure how hard they are working are thirty two percent more likely to meet or beat their goal time for running a 5K than those who didn’t use a monitor. Although hitting the slopes for a few hours is a bit different than running a 5K, a heart rate monitor may help better prepare you for meeting your snow sports goals this season.

Using a heart rate monitor can be a good way to gauge the effectiveness of your workouts because as you strengthen your body through exercise, you also strengthen your heart. Measuring the rate of your heart during exercise can help you determine when you're pushing your body too hard or need to push it harder to achieve the level of snow sports fitness you are seeking.
